Lors d’un communiqué l’équipe a annoncé : “Contrairement à une information parue dans différents médias, l’équipe AG2R Citroën n’a jamais été en contact avec Nairo Quintana et son agent n’a jamais eu l’intention de le recruter”. Nairo Quintana, contrôlé positif au tramadol lors du dernier Tour de France, se retrouve sans contrat pour 2023, après l’annulation de sa prolongation chez l’équipe bretonne. Le Colombien est donc toujours à la recherche d’une formation pour la saison à venir.
